Does Distance Matter? An is curriculum Challenge
نویسندگان
چکیده
Learning from a distance has become a very popular approach in education. Learning in the 21 century necessitates innovative teaching methods. Distance Learning (DL) is only one method representing this phenomenon. In the past decade, DL has been gradually been replacing traditional instruction methods. In this study we explore the learning outcomes and benefits when employing simulations in a DL environment. Our results indicate that employing simulations in a learning environment can significantly enhance the learning experience. In addition, this method increases the level of satisfaction of both the students and the instructor. Our findings lead us to conclude that modern technology makes it easier to acquire education and in a more enjoyable way. However, we also note that there are still several challenges educators need to address in order to make this experience more applicable in the Information Systems domain.

Effects of Task-based Academic Listening on High School EFL Students' Listening Comprehension: Does Experiential Learning Style Matter?
Task-based language teaching (TBLT) has been considered as an effective language teaching methodology. However, its applicability for lower-proficiency learners in EFL contexts has not been adequately justified. Moreover, the possible mediating effect of the experiential learning styles on academic listening TBLT has not been targeted in the literature, a gap that this study attempts to fill. T...
متن کاملDark Matter : a Challenge to Standard Gravity or a Warning ? ∗
We suggest that the conventional need for overwhelming amounts of astrophysical dark matter should be regarded as a warning to standard gravity rather than as merely a challenge to it, and show that the systematics of galactic rotation curve data can just as readily point in the direction of the equally covariant conformal gravity alternative. In particular we identify an apparent imprint of th...
متن کاملA biomechanical evaluation of the interprosthetic distance as a risk factor for periprosthetic fractures of the femur: does the gap distance matter?
Introduction The treatment of femoral fractures between a proximal and distal prosthetic stem is expected to become a major challenge because of the increasing life expectancy and the rising prevalence of osteoporotic fractures, Total Hip (THA) and Total Knee Arthroplasties (TKA). Although orthopedic surgeons intuitively consider a decreased interprosthetic gap distance as an important risk fac...
متن کاملDevelopment of a learning progression for the particle model of matter
Prior research indicates that one of the most difficult concepts for students to understand is that of the particle nature of matter. The How can I smell things from a distance? chemistry unit takes the approach of building students’ ideas through the construction and revision of models. The purpose of this study is to describe the changes in students’ understanding of the particle nature of ma...
